Masaru Imada Trio +2 - Green Caterpillar (LP)
One of the pillars of the genre, and a real standout in the Three Blind Mice corpus, is 1975's Green Caterpillar. It is also one of the funkiest, featuring Imada on the electric piano for the first time on record (and with a wah pedal no less), with Kazumi Watanabe and Isoo Fukui on guitar and bass, respectively. All three can be found riffing endlessly off of the driving rhythms laid down by Tetsujiro Obara and Yuji Imamura. The whole things smokes, but the title track and "Spanish Flower" are total madness.
