E.M. & Kay Brothers – Reconciliation (LP)

Obscure release from E.M. & Kay Brothers (Emekom family and Franklin Kay) reminiscent of some of Onyeabor’s upbeat material. Many nice oddball tracks here, replete with funky guitar, detuned synths, and charming harmonies. The title track, “You Are Magic” and “Let’s Go Home” are the most danceable, but the rest of the LP has no shortage of flavor. Dedicated, appropriately, to “Peace and Unity.”
